Earth's man-made Designs

Humans have been building on earth since the dawn of time. The results have had its pros and cons but there is no denying that the result is a wonderful snapshot from space. Looking down on some of the man-made designs from our satellite view will leave you speechless. From building on deserts to building on the ocean, the result is a breath-taking detail captured by our satellite and displayed as beautiful a print. Urban Barcelona

This high-resolution satellite image, offered by Customaps, shows Barcelona's "new town", its expansion beyond the old city walls of Spain's second most populated urban area. The district of Eixample (literally, 'Expansion' in Catalan) exists since 1860, after the demolition of the medieval ramparts.

Shot from 705 km altitude in space, this natural-color satellite image collected by NASA's Landsat 8 on April 3, 2015, shows the municipality of Dubai. Not long ago, Dubai was considered a small fishing and pearl diving village, but its rapid expansion has turned Dubai into a modern metropolis. It is today the largest city of the Persian Gulf Emirate of the same name, and has built a global reputation for large-scale developments and architectural works.

When looking from space down on earth, the first thing people usually feel is just how small they really are. Some of earth's natural designs have been forming for thousands of years and the result is a jaw-dropping scene that will leave you in awe. Los Monegros

This overview captures a part of the “living desert of Europe”, known as the Monegros Desert, in Aragón, northeastern Spain. The steppes and forests, mountains and canyons, salty lagoons and lakes form an original landscape filled with brown and dark green tones.

Petermann Glacier in Greenland

This natural-color satellite image of Petermann Glacier, offered by Customaps, was collected on August 14, 2015 by NASA's Landsat 8 satellite. The Glacier grinds and slides toward the sea along the northwestern coast of Greenland, terminating in a giant floating ice tongue.
