This high-resolution satellite image, offered by Customaps, shows Aircraft Carriers in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, an area of Her Majesty’s Naval Base, Portsmouth, United Kingdom. It is the only place in the world to have seen the Royal Navy in past, present and future. The base is home to one of the oldest dry docks in the world and is also the headquarter for two-thirds of the Royal Navy's surface fleet.
It has been an important part of the Senior Service's history and the defense of the British Isles for centuries. It was officially known as Portsmouth Royal Dockyard up until the early 1970s; the shipbuilding, repair and maintenance element of the base was privatized in the late 1990s, early 2000s.
